The Right Mindset For Fat Loss

By: Richard Black

Lose what fast, you ask? I'm glad you did - I'm talking about losing fat. You know, fat, that ugly accumulation around our mid-section, hips, thighs, arms and even the face.

Don't you just hate the word fat? Of course! We could change the word to sound less disgusting, however even other terms to describe the extra padding we carry around sounds so degrading.

CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT IT

My mother used to always say "If you can't change the way it is, change the way you think about it. Well, we cannot change the word, "fat", but we can change how we think about it. We can reprogram our thoughts to belief that fat might be good - as with everything else, in moderation.

Now, the trick is to change the way we think about losing most of the fat. Then, our next thought is fast fat loss is just a scam.

There we go again, negative thinking patterns. Let's change the way we think about it. If you do not have to buy anything to lose fat fast, how could it be a scam?

So, now we have resolved ourselves to thinking positively. Now you need to get your brain moving, and get your body moving.

Listen to your body and your heart. You know the lines - you have heard them a million or more times.

-Eat less YUK!

-Drink more water YUK!

-Exercise, exercise, exercise SUPER YUK!!

However, we can make these proven methods more palatable by changing our thinking patterns.

Let's start with "eat less" and change it to "eat quality". Try using a smaller plate to achieve smaller portions when dishing up your food. If you are the cook, prepare just a little bit less of each dish.

Give yourself a healthy balance of protein and carbohydrates. Don't give up the foods you love! If you crave a brownie, have some, but have less - or wait ten minutes and see if you still REALLY want it.

Water - our bodies are made up of 70% water. Water is good for us, it rids our bodies of toxic waste. When we are properly hydrated our metabolism works efficiently and we burn more calories thereby losing weight.

If you have tap water that is less than desirable and hate the waste of bottled water, consider a water cooler in your home. I know what you're thinking - negative thoughts, such as "where would I put it?" or that must be expensive, etc. Change the thoughts to I could put it where I keep the chips, or refilling the jug and carrying it in from the store will burn a few more calories.

Finally, exercise - that dreaded word. We must hate that word more than "fat" because we would rather be "fat" than exercise. However, if we diet without exercise we lose muscle.

Since muscle burns fat, having muscle is VERY important. Again, change the way you think about it. Use making dinner an easy way to burn calories.

When you take a can from the cupboard, take two (for just a moment) and pump them up and down, or do a couple of arm curls while holding them, put the second one back and continue with your meal preparation. When you bend down to get the pan from a lower cupboard, stay there and "just hang" for a few seconds, then stand up and repeat the process a few times before you open the cupboard door. When you are waiting for the water to boil, do a few pushups off the counter.

It doesn't have to be ugly, and it doesn't have to be a chore. Now, let's change the way we think about it and take on the world with fast fat loss.
